Although the most accurate way to know if you're pregnant or not is by taking pregnancy tests and visiting doctors for ultrasounds, there are some early signs you of pregnancy you can look out for. Every woman is different and they can have different experiences of pregnancy. During the early days of pregnancy, the changes happen at a cellular level so you might not notice any physical symptoms, but a close track at the early signs of pregnancy can give you some indication.

Here are 5 early signs of pregnancy:

Missed Period

It is one of the earliest and obvious symptoms of pregnancy. Sometimes you may miss periods because of various other reasons, and you should always check with a doctor to find the root cause of your missed periods. There might be a confusion between implantation bleeding, which could be mistaken for a light period. But remember to consult with your doctor to rule out any emergencies.

Rise in basal body temperature

A rise in basal body temperature may be one of the early signs of pregnancy. Try to drink more water, and keep your room cool during this time.

Feeling tired 

Although tiredness and fatigue can develop anytime during pregnancy, you may see this symptom as an early sign. It is very common to feel tired, and this can happen due the hormonal changes which can make you feel sick and emotional.

Feeling nauseous and sick during pregnancy is commonly known as morning sickness, but it can happen during the night too. But remember if you feel sick most of the time, do see a gynaecologist.

Sore breasts

Changes in breast are another early sign of pregnancy. You may feel that your breasts may appear swollen, heavier and sore. The breasts may feel fuller and tender and the nipple can darken.

Increase in smell sensitivity and food cravings 

You may notice there’s an increased sensitivity to smell, you may develop strong dislikes to certain foods. Smell sensitivity is a symptom that has little scientific evidence, it’s mostly self-reported. During early pregnancy, you may feel a strange taste in your mouth, you may crave new foods or food combinations, you may also lose interest in your favourite foods.
