Online Dating Tips

1. Trust Your Gut

Just like in real life, it's crucial to trust your instincts when engaging in online dating. If something feels off or too good to be true, it's okay to pause and reassess. Don't feel pressured to meet someone in person or share personal information before you're ready. It's better to take your sweet time, hon than regret later!

2. Keep Personal Information Private

In the digital world, personal information is precious currency. Be cautious about sharing sensitive details such as your full name, address, phone number, or school on your dating profile or in conversations with potential matches. Protecting your privacy is key to staying safe online.

Everyone on dating apps is not there just to find matches. People with ulterior motives are waiting to find their fish in this ocean of the dating world. Identity theft, and facilitating crimes like robberies, hacking accounts, and stealing cards are a few of the many consequences of sharing your information with strangers online.

3. Make your first meeting public!

If you decide to meet someone in person, (maybe you've reached the smitten by someone stage) always choose a public location for your first date. Avoid secluded areas or private residences, and let a trusted friend or family member know where you'll be and who you'll be meeting. Consider bringing along a friend or arranging a group date for added safety. The person you are meeting is a walking red flag if they aren't okay with you being picky about your safety. Making you feel safe and comfortable should be the first in their checklist to win you.

4. Set Boundaries and Respect Them:

Boundaries are essential in any relationship, including online ones. Communicate your boundaries and expectations with your potential matches, and respect theirs in return. If someone crosses your boundaries or makes you feel uncomfortable, don't hesitate to block or report them. Sharing social media handle passwords is one such example. No one should be allowed to cross certain boundaries EVER, girl!

5. Verify Before Trusting:

In the age of catfishing and online deception, it's essential to verify the identity of your potential matches before putting your trust in them. Look for red flags such as inconsistent information, reluctance to video chat or meet in person, or refusal to provide additional photos or verification. Be sure that you have sufficient data and information about the person you're seeing. I'm sure love is blind but let it not fool you!

6. Prioritize Your Mental Health:
