"Little goes a long way” as known well by everyone, is the mantra to a wholesome life. Minimal lifestyle strives towards purpose. When you live minimally you don’t pay attention to things that don’t matter and simply live with what you need. Practicing minimalism is a therapeutic process. You always look to improve yourself and giveup a lot of sabotaging habits. It starts with little steps towards productivity and letting of what is superfluous.
What is minimalism actually?
With so many distractions around it’s hard to keep your mind focused on one thing, imagine sitting down with some due assignment or work and suddenly being reminded of every other chore around. Disturbing, right? Not only is minimalism associated with productivity in life but mental health as well. It basically means living for yourself, spending time with your loved ones, going out for a walk, exercising, eating well and even treating yourself with kindness and affection.

“The More Fever” that is a never ending desire that lurks around us is making us more greedy and never satisfied. Minimalism is not that hard to practise but definitely requires a spot dedication to bring into life.
We often associate more with status, security, comfort and control. But let’s understand one thing, the more the desires for materialistic things, the further you get away from yourself, and the more you have to lose.
Our lives are all driven by the goal of achieving maximum and never appreciating the little things.
Some Tips to achieve minimalism:
- Invest in quality, not quantity: Of Course there’s no need to completely boycott shopping but look for things that will last you long. Invest in quality purchases that will save you money in the long run.
- Keep your workspace organised: Clean workspace will save you the time of organising it when you actually sit down to do the work.
- Reuse and Recycle: Many of the things that we use are likely tot get recycled or reused. For instance, reuse your travel coffee mug, recycle your old glasses as a vase etc.
- Less paper: We understand that physical books and cd’s are more personal but digitising them will make them more accessible to you( on your fingertips) and save the environment as well, cutting down on paper purchase. It’s a win win.
- Declutter: Decluttering will clean out your place in an unexpected way. Getting rid of things you don’t need anymore, in fact donating what can be used by others in need.
- Journal: Keeping your emotions in check manages your mental health, making sure you’re not overwhelmed with life.
- Take time for yourself: Minimalism doesn’t only focus on eliminating procrastination but focusing on your wellbeing throughout. Going out on a walk, meditating, do what you like for 30 minutes etc.
Minimalism, as it is letting go of a lot of things, it is also acquiring what is actually needed. Feeling gratitude for what you have and carrying a positive attitude is also a part of minimal lifestyle. Feeling complete in your own and striving for a better version of yourself is the motto of minimal life.
