Cuddling and bonding with your new born baby is a pleasurable part of the postpartum experience. However, not everything about your postpartum recovery will be enjoyable. There are some essential things you need for postpartum care to help you get back on your feet as quickly as possible after having your new baby. You may encounter any or all of the following symptoms during your recovery period:
- Vaginal bleeding. Most women experience lochia, or postpartum bleeding, for 1 to 2 weeks after giving birth, followed by milder bleeding or spotting for a few days to a month.
- Stitches. If you have a C-section, you will have an abdominal opening with stitches (or staples or glue). If you give birth vaginally, you may need stitches if you have perineal tearing or an episiotomy.
- Swelling and discomfort. For 1 to 6 weeks, you will be sore "down there."
- Sore or cracked nipples. You may experience this for a period of time if you are breastfeeding . Breast soreness and engorgement may also occur as your milk production regulates and your milk supply comes in.
- Fluctuating hormones. It's completely normal to experience some extremely high highs and extremely low lows in the first few weeks after giving birth.
The following are some essentials for reducing these experiences:
Heating Pads And Ice Packs
After giving birth, the first order of business is to take the right steps. You won't be capable of caring for your new bundle of joy if you're not feeling well!
To find relief anywhere from your perineum to your C-section incision and sore nipples, use heating pads and ice packs.
Pads
Overnight and postpartum pads are larger than regular pads. These are the most functional pads to use after having your baby.
Healthy Foods
One way to restock your body is to feed it the proper foods. Crash diets are often not the healthiest option, particularly if you are breastfeeding. Choose healthier foods such as fruits and vegetables, as well as protein and fiber-rich foods.
Comfy Clothes
Even if you have just given birth, you may appear pregnant for a few months. That's fine! It's a good idea to keep your maternity clothes around for a little while longer. Cute and comfortable can coexist!
Nursing Pads
Nursing pads are used to absorb milk from leaky breasts and fit right into your bra. Fabric nursing pads are a more environmentally friendly, re - usable option that is gentler on your nipples than disposable pads.
Maintaining hygiene
One of the most important steps in keeping your baby and yourself healthy is to practise good hygiene.
