You might already have heard about the controversy involving Jada Pinkett Smith, Will Smith  and Chris Rock. Jada Pinkett Smith is suffering from a disease known as Alopecia. Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disorder in which the patient starts losing hair from the head and other parts of the body. This causes the body to start attacking its own hair follicles causing complete loss of hair from the scalp or body part. The course and severity of alopecia areata can vary from person to person. It can affect both men and women. Some people who were diagnosed with alopecia areata had some family history of the disease but many people had no genetic history . The commonly affected areas are the scalp and beard. While in a few cases patients also lose hair from eyebrows, eyelashes and body hair. 

Alopecia can be suspected by noticing the type and area of hair loss ,as well as reviewing the family history. To get the confirmed diagnosis a person must go through a diagnostic procedure recommended by doctors.

Jada Pinkett Smith started talking on social media about her struggles in 2018 she said “It was terrifying when it first started,”  “I was in the shower one day and had just handfuls of hair in my hands and I was just like, oh my god, am I going bald?”

Jada Pinkett as an Inspiration to everyone. She flaunted her natural beauty and talked about it to generate awareness and self-love. Even in the middle of the controversy, she is open about her struggles and posts them online to show the world. The hair loss during Alopecia takes a toll on the confidence and that's the reason Jada is appreciated. Instead of getting upset, she said. "You know mama’s going to put some rhinestones in there. I’m going to make me a little crown. That’s what mama’s going to do".

This shows her positive approach and inspires millions. She also said “Mama’s gonna have to take it down to the scalp so nobody thinks she got brain surgery or something”. ” I and this alopecia are going to be friends…period!.” she said, showing that a condition like this should be tackled as an challenge with a positive approach.
