7 Signs Of Burnout: You need a break!

Mental health is as important as physical health. Mental health a hot topic today and almost everyone is talking about it. Maintaining a positive mental health and treating the root cause of problems is really important as it can affect emotional and social behaviours. Mental health has a direct impact on our physical health. Symptoms or signs of mental health problems can be seen physically in the form of such as fatigue, loneliness, diarrhea and some other issues. 

Burnout doesn’t necessarily mean you have a mental health issue, it can also mean that you have exhausting and emotionally draining life’s. Imagine, you wake up, prepare for breakfast, clean the house, do the dishes, go to work, do errands to come home to piled up laundry, dinner waiting to be prepared and it goes on. Pretty exhausting, right? And as you finally lay down you don’t feel relaxed because of the pressure for the next day.

Each body is unique and their way of dealing with daily burnout is different as well. However our bodies show some signs that tell us to slow down.

  • Feeling Dull: Having a lot of work in pipeline and not wanting to do it or somehow having no time left from browning social media. You’re losing interest. You’re no more energised for even your hobbies.
  • Falling sick often: This is alarming sign that you definitely need a break. Falling sick more than usual is a result of over exertion on your body. Frequent sickness is a sign that your stress is now effecting your immune system.
  • Feeling swamped: exhaustion can lead to a feeling of overwhelm where even smallest of tasks, for instance, taking a shower, can seem a lot and seem to drain out your energy. 
  • Struggling to concentrate: Having a hard time focusing can be a sign that your brain is tired and is not able to find its focal point. Not being able to follow a conversation and hearing them all mumbled up is one sign that you are not able to focus. 
  • Poor sleep cycle: it's suddenly hard for you to fall asleep and once you’re asleep you struggle in getting up. Being awake at late hours of the night drains mind out of its threshold energy and it becomes hard to cope up with the schedule.
  • Eating habits: you realise that you’re no more looking over what and when you’re eating. Eating less or skipping meals or even binge eating sometimes
  • can be hint that you need a break. 
  • Feeling lonely or gloomy: getting irritated easily or having a break down sessions quote too often are significant signs that you are having a burnout and require a rest. 

Everybody’s struggles are different, and so are the way of coping with them are different as well. Taking time out for yourself in fast paced world is a massive task but a crucial one.
