A group of friends were hanging out together, sipping chai at their favourite corner, immersed in lively conversation. As laughter fills the air and stories flow freely, one topic remains silent, a topic deemed too taboo, too sensitive to broach in polite company. Yet, amidst the jovial banter and anecdotes, there's a silent question lingering in the air: Why are some topics off-limits? Why do we tiptoe around issues that are integral to our lives and experiences as women?

As we step into the month of March, dedicated to celebrating women as the 8th of March is International Women’s Day, let's open our thoughts to this question. In a society where silence is often mistaken for decorum, where whispers drown out the voices of truth, it's time to ask ourselves- Why don't we have a space to ask openly? Why don't we deserve a platform where our questions are welcomed, our stories embraced, and our voices heard without fear or judgment? We at Gytree started on this journey to understand and detangle the complex issues of womanhood, where every question deserves an answer, and every voice deserves to be heard. Consult our Gytree experts for any query, question or doubt that may be troubling you.

“Khulke Puchho” Platform for Women

Advertisment

In India's societal fabric, women often find themselves curbed by the shackles of silence and stigma. Topics such as sexual health, reproductive rights, mental well-being, and gender equality are veiled in secrecy, promoting ignorance and inhibiting progress. The Cultural taboos and patriarchal norms create barriers that hinder women from speaking openly about their experiences and seeking the support they need. From menstruation to maternal health, from domestic violence to workplace discrimination, the silence surrounding these issues has ignited a vicious cycle of suffering and inequality.

For all my fellow readers thinking to themselves, but we have progressed as a country, women of our country are doing great, so why is this needed in the first place? Are we lagging? Are we doing something wrong? Are women really in a position even today where such a platform is needed? Sad but true, the answer is YES.

In every field, in every domain, in every workplace, there are multiple instances of discrimination, abuse, misinformation, mistreatment and harassment that women are subjected to even today. Many don't even know or are not aware of what's happening to them. So much so that they start normalising the things they go through as a part of womanhood.

Why is it needed?

  1. Access to accurate information and resources is crucial for empowering women to make informed decisions about their bodies, health, and lives. A "Khulke Puchho" platform would serve as a lamp of knowledge, providing women with a safe space to ask questions and share experiences.

  2. Many women, especially those from marginalized communities, lack access to accurate information, healthcare services, and support networks, further aggravating their challenges.

  3. Women often fear reprisal or judgment for speaking out about sensitive issues such as sexual harassment, domestic violence, or reproductive health, leading to self-censorship and silence.

  4. A platform is needed to dismantle the barriers of shame and stigma that restrict women's voices. Through candid conversations and shared narratives, women can find solace, support, and strength in their shared experiences.

  5. In a society where women's voices are often marginalized or silenced such a platform encourages women to be heard, valued, and celebrated. By amplifying diverse perspectives and lived experiences, the platform can catalyze social change and enable gender equality.

  6. In a world that often pits women against each other, a platform like this enables a sense of solidarity and sisterhood. Women can come together to uplift and support one another, creating a community built on empathy and compassion.

One truth emerges crystal clear- the time for silence has passed. In a world where societal norms dictate the boundaries of conversation, we must carve out a space where our questions can be asked openly, our stories can be shared without repercussions, and our voices can ring out with clarity. The need for a "Khulke Puchho" platform for women in India is not just a desire- it's a fundamental right, a ray of hope in a sea of silence. So, as we bid farewell to the narrowed walls of tradition and embrace the freedom of expression, let us pledge to create a future where every woman's voice is celebrated, every question is welcomed, and every conversation is a catalyst for change. Are you ready to join the movement? Are you ready to ask openly? “Dil se puchho, Khulke Puchho”!
