In a world that prides itself on progress and modernity, gender parity remains an unattainable goal, often relegated to the realm of wishful thinking rather than a tangible reality. Despite advancements in technology, education, and social awareness, women continue to face discrimination and inequality in various facets of life. From the workplace to the home, subtle biases and barriers perpetuate the notion of female inferiority, casting a shadow over the promise of true gender equality.

But how did we reach this point, and what can be done to bridge the gap between aspiration and actualization? Given below are the various scenarios highlighting the challenges women face in today's modern-day and envisioning a future where equality is not just a dream but a lived reality. These thought-provoking questions will help us re-evaluate the status of women in today's modern world.

Scenario 1:

Imagine a corporate boardroom bustling with activity, where decisions that shape the future of the company are made. Yet, amidst this commotion, women find themselves hitting an invisible barrier, the ceiling. Despite their qualifications and capabilities, women are often overlooked for leadership positions, limited to subordinate roles or confined to the margins of decision-making. Why are women still underrepresented in executive positions? What barriers prevent them from ascending the corporate ladder? And how can organizations break through the ceiling to promote gender diversity and inclusion?

Scenario 2:

Consider a typical household where chores and caregiving duties are divided along gender lines. While men may be lauded for their professional accomplishments, women bear the brunt of unpaid labour, sacrificing their time, energy, and aspirations to meet the demands of domestic life. Why is caregiving primarily seen as a woman's responsibility? How does the unequal distribution of unpaid labour perpetuate gender inequality? And what can be done to promote a more equitable division of household responsibilities?

Scenario 3:

Picture a world where women live in fear of violence and harassment, both in public spaces and within their own homes. From catcalling on the streets to domestic abuse behind closed doors, women are subjected to various forms of gender-based abuse, violence and discrimination daily. What role does toxic masculinity play in promoting a culture of entitlement? And how can we work together to challenge patriarchal norms and create safer environments for women?
