It was two days ago that Tishaa Kumar, 21 daughter of actor-producer Krishan Kumar and cousin of Bhushan Kumar from T-series passed away due to cancer. Yes! 21 years of age. The age wherein people have just started dreaming or working towards their dreams. An age where they think of being financially stable and being a backbone for their family. Then there is cancer that breaks your backbone, takes away your support, and makes you dependent and almost incapable of functioning. For a generation that runs mostly behind money, fame, luxe life, and stability at a young age, one thing they often forget is to take good care of their health and that is exactly when such monsters take over.

How do we know that cancer is taking over?

Cancer is a silent killer. It starts showing its symptoms only when it gets older and even more harmful. It is very difficult to detect the symptoms of cancer just by outer appearance and this is exactly where we might go wrong. Cancer in itself cannot be caught from someone else, it is not contagious. The risk factors include certain medical conditions, genetics, or radiation. There are also fair chances that a young adult may mistake certain nominal symptoms as normal while they may be cancerous in real life.

  2. Lumps under the skin
  3. weight gain or loss

  6. persistent night sweats

Risk factors

Risk factors of cancer include certain conditions which may look normal to you in the beginning but are extremely fatal.

Lifestyle : certain habits in young adults such as drinking and smoking are the main causes of cancer. Some habits such as sleep schedules and eating disorders can also be the risk factors here.

Family History : although a small portion of the population get cancer due to inheritance but it maybe considered as one of the most influential factors of them all. Inherited mutations are the greatest cause of young age cancer.

Prevention

Cancer is caused when it has to. It has its own time, but like all diseases , cancer can also be avoided by doing a handful of practices such as:

  1. Avoiding smoking and drinking: youngsters are often attracted to the coolness of drinking and smoking which is one of the reasons why cancer takes over. One who is wise enough and understands the complexity of getting such a disease should avoid getting into it.
  2. Eat a healthy diet : eating a healthy diet can be one of the greatest escapes from cancerous growth. What one eats is what they show and this is the truth here as well.
  3. Cancer screening exams : cancer screening exams are a great way to acknowledge your risk factors of causing cancer.

Here were a few ways in which cancer can be detected or avoided in early age.
