Gone are the days when people used to hit the gym for weight loss. People nowadays have started hitting the gym for strength, stamina, and flexibility. As the lifestyle becomes more and more sedentary, it is necessary to exercise to avoid diseases and ailments. Seating in a bad posture for hours and not moving our body at regular intervals can cause back problems and stomach issues. Cardiovascular exercises, coupled with strength training and a healthy protein-rich diet, can help build a flexible and healthy body.

It is assumed that you need to train your body in the gym, which is completely wrong. If one can not manage to go to the gym, one can exercise at home with the help of a mat and a few weights. Pros of working out at home can be timing and money-saving, you can work out on your own time, you can choose to work at your own pace, etc. Women can choose to work around their menstrual cycle, choosing to exercise even on their periods. Exercise and stretching can help alleviate cramps and premenstrual symptoms.

Pros of strength training

  • Fat burner: Weight-training exercises help burn body fat and boost stamina. It builds muscles, which in turn help burn fat away even when you are not working.

  • Increases bone density: Exercise can help build bone density and improve overall bone health by producing new bone cells. Women are more likely to have osteoporosis. Strength training can help build healthy muscles and keep bone diseases at bay.

  • Boosts heart health: Cardiovascular exercises can help keep our heart healthy. Our heart is a muscle and needs consistent training as well.

  • Keeps the joints together. As we age, our joints grow rusty. Just like our machines, our joints need oiling to keep going. Training can help women reduce injuries.

  • Sleep Cycle: Exercising can help improve our sleep quality. Poor sleeping habits can cause memory loss, fatigue, and a lot of other issues.

These are some of the most important perks of strength training for women. Apart from keeping the physical body in good trim, weight training can help keep our mind healthy too. Regular exercise shows improved mental health and can cure anxiety and initiate feelings of self-confidence and power.

When and how often to train

While one should exercise daily to keep their physical health moving, strength training can be practiced 2-3 days a week. If you are an adult, 2 days of weight training, a proper diet, and 7-8 hours of sleep can help you get going.

One thing that every person, irrespective of gender, should keep in mind is to do these exercises in the correct form and under supervision. Lifting very heavy weights in the beginning can be injurious.
