We all must have heard that discipline is the key to success, but I believe that discipline is a prerequisite for achieving success. Every person who has made it big in life has mastered the art of self-discipline. If you can wake up on time, you have already made it halfway to fulfilling all other tasks on your to-do list.

People who have achieved their dreams have made efforts consistently. Consistency has to be maintained to realize your dreams. Sportspersons, actors, writers, dancers, content creators, etc. all have to maintain a mental streak of daily practice and hard work.

Discipline can take you to greater places. Here are a few ways women can be empowered through the art of discipline.

  • It helps you define your goals and priorities. A woman can often feel lost in different roles in her life. Defining her goals and her ideas can help her identify her strengths. Different roles require unique ways of problem-solving.

  • Time management is a skill that is helpful in every profession. “I must govern the clock, not be governed by it.” by Golda Meir stands so true in times of trial. If you have mastered your time and taken a hold of it, you can conquer anything.

There surely can be many hurdles in your journey of setting up a disciplined life. You could fall on your face in the first attempt, but that is the idea—to try. Being disciplined requires you to show up each day, even if you feel like nobody.

There are a plethora of ideals around us. From Mary Kom to Kareena Kapoor, all have shown up each day irrespective of their life situations. Your body, your life, and your environment might not cooperate with you, but your consistency always will. Yes, you can find yourself an ideal and feel motivated for a while. Motivation can phase out sooner than you think and can strip you of the will to work hard. It should be hardwired into you to achieve your goals.

How can you begin your journey?

It can be as simple as following your skincare routine religiously. Discipline is a commitment to yourself. Consistency breeds self-confidence. If you have set out a list of tasks for yourself, you must be committed to completing those.

Confucius said, “It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you don’t stop.” You can start small. Start with 2-3 small tasks, motivate yourself through rewards, and then move forward.
