What is biotin and what does it do? 

Biotin, popularly known and written as vitamin B7 is one of the most important enzymes found in the body that is responsible for facilitating energy creation whilst breaking down fats, carbohydrates and, etc. Naturally occurring sources of biotin include eggs, milk, and, bananas. Although natural sources are available in abundant amounts we may still require supplements. 

Biotin is widely known for curing hair loss and brittle nails. But it is not just that, it has more benefits to it like it takes care of eye health and boosts immunity during pregnancy. Although biotin deficiencies are very rare but anyone who faces a biotin deficiency might see hair loss and rashes on the skin which may cause irritation and redness.

Biotin deficiency is also quite common during pregnancies which may hamper both, the mom's and baby's health. Hence, pregnant women are often advised to take prenatal vitamins which additionally contain folic acid. People who face problems related to blood sugar levels should also ensure balanced biotin levels in their bodies. 

Biotin has also been proven beneficial for nervous health and balancing the overall nervous system. It has helped the nerves recover from damage and avoid any progressive diseases related to the same. 

Where can you obtain biotin?

As mentioned above the natural sources of biotin include meat, eggs, fish, seeds, nuts etc. Some might feel that these are very limited and for the same reason, the market is flooded with a lot of supplements that take care of diabetes, hair strength, nail health, and even prenatal care. 

What can a lack of biotin do?

Biotin deficiency is not something that can be seen quickly. Anyone who grows deficient in biotin might take a few days to register the lack of it. The symptoms include hair loss, rashes, brittle nails, depression, and, seizures.

Biotin-rich foods are easily available and can make up for the lack of it. It also supports the nervous system, eyes, liver, hair, and skin.
