5 foods to keep your body warm:

  1. Complex carbohydrates: the reason behind complex carbohydrates keeping your body warm is simple. These complex carbs and proteins require more energy to digest and hence the body has to work a little more than normal. This keeps the body heated up and running. But too much carbs may burden the digestive system and even the starch may prove to be harmful. Here are all the carbs you can eat: whole wheat products, oats, sweet potatoes, broccoli, beans, lentils, and squash.
  2. Red meat: people with chilly hands and feet are generally iron-deficient which is the reason why they are told to eat iron-rich foods like red meat. For the ones who are strictly veg or vegan can use alternatives like spinach, apples, and other green leafy veggies.
  3. Ginger: ginger is one of the best foods to enhance the body's thermogenesis. It helps in digestion, reducing inflammation, and is great against infections. Ginger and honey together are also great to keep a check on body heat.
  4. Nuts: Dry fruits and nuts such as almonds, cashews, walnuts, olives, figs, and dates are great for regulating body temperature. These are good options to snack on against chills and keep the body warm until you find a better comforting meal.
  5. Honey: Honey has been used as the number one home remedy against cough and cold. It can be easily included in soups, drinks, hot beverages, salads, etc. Since honey is a natural sweetener, excess addition of it is also bearable against diabetes

Why is it important to maintain a fixed body temperature?

Our body is a powerhouse that performs more than a hundred activities at the same time. We need to make sure that the systems in our body are fuelled equally and provide the accurate temperature for their functioning. Cold temperatures may also fail to fight viral infections and lead to weaker immunity.
